Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 16: Biblical Community
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of February 12, 2017
“Biblical Community”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Acts 2:44-47
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
Key Question: How do I develop healthy relationships with others?
Key Idea: I fellowship with Christians to accomplish God’s purposes in
my life, in the life of others , and in the world.
ICE BREAKER: Ask the following questions out loud and discuss.
What do you devote yourself to daily?
When you were a kid, were you good at sharing your toys with others?
With what group did you experience the most unity: Athletic team? Army unit? Fraternity? Your immediate family? Other?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud.
Read: Acts 4:32
Ask: What does it mean to be “one in heart and mind?” What would motivate them to share like this?
Read: Acts 4:33
Ask: Why was the focus on the resurrection and not the crucifixion?
Read: Acts 4:34-37
Ask: Is this the same as communal ownership? As socialism? As communism? How is this the same or different? What do you know about Barnabas? If you could be named after a character trait you possessed, would you like your name to be?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in the way I live?
Ask: How well does verse 32 describe your church? Is that kind of sharing possible?
Ask: Can you name any of the “one another” passages? Why are they important?
Ask: How would you describe Biblical Community? What is your role in a Biblical Community?
Close in prayer and pray for your group and family throughout the week!
