Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 23:
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of May 7, 2017
“Virtue 3: Peace”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Key Question: Where do I find strength to battle anxiety and fear?
Key Idea: I am free from anxiety because I have found peace with God, peace with others and peace with myself.
ICE BREAKER: Ask one or all of the following questions out loud and discuss.
What makes you angry? What do you do about it?
Is there someone who try’s to always make peace in your family?
How do they try to so it? Does what they do work all of time?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud.
Read: Philippians 4:2-3
Ask: What appears to be the attitude these women have that could harm the church?
How can others help them?
What are some attitudes in the church today that can cause it harm?
Read: Philippians 4:4-6
Ask: What would a person marked by these verses look like?
How would these qualities bring about peace?
Read: Philippians 4:7-9
Ask: Why is it important to think about the things found in verse 8?
How can we make sure the peace of God is with us?
What things do we need to put into practice?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in the way I live?
Ask: On a scale of 1-10, what is your anxiety level right now (1 being completely at peace and 10 being completely nuts)? Why?
Ask: What in this passage could help you relieve your stress?
Ask: What are you going to do about it?
Close in prayer and pray for your group and family throughout the week
