Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 3: Salvation
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of October 9, 2016
“Salvation”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Ephesians 2:8-9
“8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Key Idea: I believe a person comes into right relationship with
God by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
Key Question: How do I have a relationship with God?
ICE BREAKERS: Ask the following questions:
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud
Read: Romans 3:23
Ask: What is our problem? Does this include you?
Read: Romans 6:23
Ask: What does my sin deserve? What is a gift? What is our gift from God? How do you receive it?
Read: Romans 5:1
Ask: What does it mean to be “justified?” What does justification bring us?
Read: John 14:6
Ask: Is Jesus the only way to get right with God? What would you say to those that say there are many ways to get right with God as long as you are sincere about it?
APPLICATION:
Ask: What is the difference of pleasing God and appeasing Him?
Ask: How does walking in grace differ from walking in guilt?
Ask: Can you identify the moment you trusted in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
Was it a one time event or was there a sequence of events?
Ask: Why is it important to believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus
is Lord?
Close in prayer and pray for your group throughout the week!
