Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 26: Patience
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of May 28, 2017
“Virtue 6: Patience”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse(s) a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Proverbs 14:29 (NIV):
“Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.”
Key Question: How does God provide the help I need to deal with stress in my life?
Key Idea: I am slow to anger and endure patiently under the unavoidable pressures of life.
ICE BREAKER: Ask one or all of the following questions out loud and discuss.
Among your peers, is there one you would consider the “most mature”? What makes them appear mature?
What area in your life you would like to become more mature?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud.
Read: Ephesians 4: 1-6
Ask: Reading between the lines, what do you think was going on in the church that inspired Paul to write this?
What qualities should characterize a person who is living a life “worthy of the calling”?
What happens when believers live out these qualities?
How does patience promote unity?
Read: Ephesians 4: 7-16
Ask: Why are the leadership gifts (vs 11) given (vs 12-13)?
What are the differences between the unity that already exists (vss 3-6) and that which is yet to come (vss 13-16)?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in the way I live?
Ask: On a scale of 1-10 (10 being perfection), how would you rate your patience level?
Ask: How can you develop more patience with others in the church? Is this possible through your own effort?
Ask: What is the problem of living the Christian life apart from the church? In what way do you need others?
Close in prayer and pray for your group and family throughout the week!
