Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 9: Stewardship
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of November 20, 2016
“Stewardship”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Psalm 24:1-2
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.”
Key Question: How much does God want of me?
Key Idea: I believe everything I am and everything I own belongs to God.
ICE BREAKER: Ask the following questions out loud and discuss.
Who was one of the most talented people you knew while you were in high school?
What did they do? What happened to that person?
What talent were you known for in high school? Are you still using that talent?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud
Read: Matthew 25:14-18
Ask: In this parable, who does the master represent? The journey? The talents? The servants? What did they do with the money they were given?
Read: Matthew 25: 19-23
Ask: What happens to the two servants who doubled their money? On what basis were they rewarded?
Read: Matthew 25: 24-30
Ask: What happens to the servant who hides and does nothing with the money entrusted to him? Why does the master call him wicked and lazy? What does the master do with what was given to the servant? Where does the master send him to? Does the master’s treatment of him seem to you to be: Fair? Harsh? Lenient? Why?
APPLICATION:
Ask: If the Master returned today, what would he say about they way you used what He gave you?
Ask: When, if ever, have you observed that the more you used a talent, the more talents God gave you? Do you have any idea what your spiritual gifts are? How do you find out?
Ask: What will you do this week with what God has given you to prepare for His return? How can your small group help you in this regard?
Close in prayer and pray for your group throughout the week!
