WEEK 4: Bible
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of October 16, 2016
“BIBLE”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16–17)
Key Idea: I believe the Bible is the Word of God and has the right to command my belief and action.
Key Question: How can I know God and his will for my life?
ICE BREAKER: Ask these questions and be prepared to answer if no one responds.
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud. As a group, discuss your thoughts and feelings about the following Statements. Which statements are easy to declare with certainty? Which are more challenging, and why?
Read: 2 Timothy 3:16
Statement: I believe the Bible is absolutely true in matters of faith and morals. Discuss.
Ask: In what ways have you seen the Bible be specifically useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training? How does it equip us for good work?
Read: 2 Peter 1:20-21
Statement: I believe the words of the Bible are words from God. Discuss.
Ask: Is the Bible relevant in our post-modern culture? Why or why not?
Read: Psalm 119:1-4
Statement: I believe the Bible has decisive authority over what I say and do. Discuss.
Ask: In what ways can the Bible inform and govern your decision making in the areas of business, family life, friendships, and recreation.
APPLICATION:
Ask: What gets in your way when it comes to reading and understanding the Bible?
Ask: How can you overcome these challenges?
Ask: What motivates you to study the Bible and understand God’s will for your life?
Ask: Knowing what you know about God, how is that going to change the way you live?
Close in prayer and pray for your group throughout the week!
