Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 25:
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of May 21, 2017
“Virtue 5: Hope”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse(s) a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Hebrews 6:19-20 (NIV)
“19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf.”
Key Question: How do I deal with the struggles of life?
Key Idea: I can cope with the hardships of life B/C of the hope I have in JC.
ICE BREAKER: Ask one or all of the following questions out loud and discuss.
Who is your favorite super-hero? What qualities do you wish you had that they possessed?
What is the biggest boat or ship you have ever been on?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud.
Read: Hebrews 6:13-15
Ask: How would Abraham’s example help the original audience reading this? How did God fulfill His promise to Abraham? How long did it take for God to fulfill His promise (re: Genesis 12:4; Genesis 21:5)?
Read: Hebrews 6: 16-20
Ask: What are the two unchangeable things (God’s promise and God’s oath confirming that promise)?
Why use an anchor as a metaphor? What is our hope anchored to?
What is the meaning of Jesus as our High Priest?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in the way I live?
Ask: Where in your life does trusting in God come hardest? Easiest? Why is one easier than another?
Ask: What promises of God are your anchor?
Ask: What hope keeps you secure when life gets difficult?
Close in prayer and pray for your group and family throughout the week!
