Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 27: Kindness/Goodness
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of June 4, 2017
“Virtue 7: Kindness/Goodness”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse(s) a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:15 (NIV)
"Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong,
but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else."
Key Question: What does it mean to do the right thing in my relationships?
Key Idea: I choose to be kind and good in my relationships with others.
ICE BREAKER: Ask the following questions and be prepared to answer first!.
What causes you to get upset?
Do you still get as mad at that situation as you once did?
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud.
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15
Ask: According to these verses, what kind of people might make up the Christian community? How do we show respect to people? Why do we hold some Christians in the highest regard? What does Paul command the church to do to the idle, timid, weak, and everyone else in the community?
What does “kindness” look like?
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Ask: What is God’s will for followers of Christ Jesus? Do these three attributes describe you? Why or why not? Which one(s) need improvement in your life?
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22
Ask: How can we put out the Spirit’s fire? How do we test things?
Read: 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
Ask: How would you summarize this goal and hope of the Christian life? What is the promise of verse 24?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in the way I live?
Ask: Which of these commands do you need to be working on this week? Why? How?
Ask: How can you show someone kindness this coming week?
Ask: How can our group encourage and pray for you?
Close in prayer and pray for your group and family throughout the week!
