Cornerstone’s 30 Weeks of Experiencing Life Groups
WEEK 2: Personal God
Cornerstone LifeGroup
Week of October 2, 2016
“Personal God”
Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: Psalm 121:1-2
I lift up my eyes to the mountains--
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
Key Idea: I believe God is involved in and cares about my daily life.
Key Question: Is God Good?
ICE BREAKERS: Ask the following questions:
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud
Read: Psalm 121:1-8, John 1:14
Ask: Is God near or far from us? How does God know what we go through in life? Does it comfort or frighten you that God watches over your life?
Read: Philippians 2:7-8
Ask: What does it mean that God “humbled” Himself?
Read: Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5
Ask: When does human life start? When did God first get to know us?
Read: Romans 8:28
Ask: Can you remember a time when something good came out of a trial? What does it mean to be “called?” Is everyone called?
Read: Philippians 1:6
Ask: Is God working out a plan in your life? What is the “good work” you will carry on until it’s completed? Who is doing the carrying?
APPLICATION:
Ask: Do you believe God is good…why or why not?
Ask: What difference does knowing this make in the way we live?
Ask: Have you ever experienced a tragedy or difficult time in your life that you can share…was God near or far? Where did you feel God was in the midst of it? Did you grow spiritually as a result of this difficulty?
Ask: Does God care about how we live? How do you know that?
Ask: Knowing what you know about God, how is that going to change the way you live?
Close in prayer and pray for your group throughout the week!

- Tell us the high point of your week.
- Have you ever felt God didn’t care about you? What were the circumstances?
