Open in prayer. Begin your discussion by reading the Key Verse a few times and then try and get the group to recite it from memory. Do the same with the Key Idea.
Key Verse: John 1:12, “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Key Idea: I believe I am significant because of my position as a child of God
Key Question: Who am I?
ICE BREAKER:
STUDY: Have someone read the following verses out loud
Read: 1 John 3:1
Ask: What are you? What does that mean?
Read: Romans 8:17
Ask: What are you? What does that mean?
Read: 1 Corinthians 3:16
Ask: What are you? What does that mean?
Read: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Ask: What are you? What does that mean?
Read: Philippians 3:20
Ask: What is a citizen? Where is your citizenship? What does that mean?
APPLICATION: What difference does this make in how I live
Ask: According to the Word of God, do you have any worth? Why?
Ask: Describe some of the ways in which the concept of being adopted by God the Father as His child and being welcomed into His household affect your identity and your sense of purpose?
Ask: If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, do you believe and rest in your new identity with Him? Why or why not?
Ask: Does your life have purpose and meaning? How should you live as a result of your new identity? Are you living that way? Why or why not?
Close in prayer and pray for your group throughout the week!
